Verna Buys, 94, of Edgerton died June 1, 2020, at Edgebrook Care Center. A private service was held Saturday, June 6, at the Colonial Funeral Chapel in Edgerton.
Verna Buys was born May 19, 1926, to Gerhart and Gertie (Schelhaas) Broekhuis. She graduated from the Christian High School in Edgerton and married Bill Buys on September 15, 1944. They farmed near Edgerton until 1986 when they moved into Edgerton. She had been living at Edgebrook since October 2009. She was a member of the Edgerton Protestant Reformed Church.
Verna loved flowers and gardening and always liked cooking and trying new recipes.
Verna passed on into glory on June 1, 2020, at the age of 94.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Ron Rynders), Vernetta (Harry Salomons), Glenda (John Hull), Harley (Marilyn), Mary (Glen Arp), Dave, Cal (Laura). She had 20 grandchildren and (42) great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1989, her sister, Helen Gunnink, in 2013, her grandson, Eric Rynders, in 2013, and her grandson-in-law, Josh Nibbelink, in 2010.
