On February 16, 2022, Marcia Uithoven was swept up by the arms of grace to her forever home in heaven at the age of 67.

A Celebration of Life is planned for March 3, 2022, at 1 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, Las Cruces. There will also be a memorial service on April 22, 2022, for family and friends at the Reformed Church in Steen, Minn.

Marcia Boeve was born on January 30, 1955, to Edward and Betty (Bosch) Boeve in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Marcia grew up on the family homestead, a small farm just east of Steen, Minn. She was the fourth of nine children in the Boeve family. She attended primary school at a country school, MN District #1. She completed high school and graduated from Hills-Beaver Creek Public. Marcia attained an accounting degree from Minnesota West College, a bachelor of science degree in interior design from South Dakota State and a master’s degree from Sioux Falls Seminary.

On August 16, 1974, she married the love of her life, Gary Uithoven. Marcia and Gary made their first home in Brookings, S.D. They attended Faith Reformed Church where Marcia was involved in music, education, and eventually became the church secretary. Moving to Edgerton, Minn., Marcia opened her own business, High Court Design, and later worked as a bookkeeper for Heard Tax Service.

She continued to volunteer at her church – First Reformed Edgerton, and it was there that she felt called to attend seminary. Upon completion of her degree, Marcia took a position on the staff of American Reformed Church in Luverne, Minn. In 2014, Marcia moved to Las Cruces, N.M., and joined the staff at University United Methodist Church. After completing the training for certified lay minister she was assigned to the Anthony United Methodist Church in Anthony, Texas, where she pastored for two years until her retirement in 2021.

Marcia was a loving, caring, selfless mother who raised four children, each one exhibiting their own characteristics, and she is extremely proud of each of their accomplishments in life.

She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, nature photography, gardening, and curling up with a good book. She found joy following all of the activities of her children and grandchildren.

Marcia is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Gary, as well as her four children and six grandchildren, Heather (Jeff Andre, Shawn, Morgan, Caitlyn, Owen, Cameron), Pella, Iowa; Shannon, Las Cruces; Megan (Chad Sidell, Emme), Chicago, Ill.; Marcus (Ashlee Placencio), Las Cruces; her eight siblings and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews and their progeny.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Betty (Bosch) Boeve; her parents-in-law, Mike and Viola (Van Roekel) Uithoven; her niece, Amanda Uithoven, and an infant son, Shawn Michael.
