ANDREW DE KAM

November 15, 1939 – December 23, 2021

Andrew “Andy” De Kam, 83, of Zeeland, Mich., passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer.

A celebration of Andy’s life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at Community Reformed Church in Zeeland, Mich. Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.

Andy was born to Andrew and Elizabeth De Kam on November 15, 1938, and grew up in this area.

Andy, with his wife Gloria, was a proud owner and operator of De Vries and Dornbos Draperies in Holland for many years. He was currently a member of Community Reformed Church. He was a hard worker and a man of integrity. He was proud of his kids and grandkids and was an “active” father and grandfather. His faith was strong and was evident to them and others. No matter what his grandkids were involved in, he was there watching. He was a good friend and will be missed by all.

Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria earlier this year.

He is survived by his children, Donald (KyongSun) De Kam, Brenda De Kam, Jeanna Spoors; grandchildren, Andrew De Kam, Emily (Mark) Stout, Jonathan De Kam, Dominic (Erin) Spoors, Joseph Spoors, Jeremiah De Kam, Evelyn De Kam; siblings, Pete (Helene) De Kam, Al (Lorraine) De Kam, Jo Burgenmeyer, Jane Boehm, Judy (Bob) De Boer, Will (Kathy) De Kam, Glenda (Charlie) Brouwer, Marilyn (Patrick) Bush, Ivan (Ebun) De Kam, Shirley (Gord) Sterk; his sister-in-law, Joyce Mulder; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
