Henrietta Klumper was born June 4, 1929, to Rudolph and Hattie Eernisse in rural Nobles County, Minnesota. She was the second of four children. She attended the country school in Leota and she attended Edgerton Public High School. She then went to college at Northwestern College. She taught school at Leota Christian School for two years and in 1951 she married Lambert Klumper and together they raised four children. In 1962 they bought a home in Edgerton where they lived for the next 54 years. In addition to raising her children, Henrietta taught school at Leota Christian school for 25 years until she retired in 1991. After their retirement, Bert and Henrietta began traveling the country in an RV with a volunteer group called SOWERS that worked in Bible camps all across the U.S. Henrietta used her sewing, painting, tutoring, and organizational skills at the camps and loved seeing so much of the country. Bert and Henrietta moved from their home in 2016 and moved to Edgebrook apartments. Bert died in 2018. They were married for 67 years.
Henrietta was a kind and energetic person who was always on the look out for ways to help others: sewing quilts and lap robes for Hope Haven Ministries and other people in need, volunteering in thrift shops, reading to those with failing eyesight, doing volunteer work at Edgebrook. She loved playing games with friends and grandchildren and was an avid reader and cross stitcher. She dearly loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and prayed for each of them by name.
She is survived by her four children: Rev. Dennis (Rev. Glennys) Klumper of Madison, S.D., Holly (Stan) Haan of Grand Rapids, Mich., Loryn (Joyce) Klumper of Wahpeton, N.D., and Brad (Lena) Klumper of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mildred ( Marinus) Klarenbeek, and three sisters-in law, Willie Klumper, Lois Jean Klumper, and Katie Klumper.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bert, brother, Robert Eernisse, sister, Kathryn Vander Ziel, brothers-in-law, Bernard Vander Ziel, Gerrit, Bernard, Henry, Cornelius and Andy Klumper, sisters-in-law, Marie (Leon) Hartke, Elizabeth (Barnie) Van Keppel.
