JIM VAN HULZEN

April 17, 1952 – December 6, 2021
Funeral services for Jim Van Hulzen, 69, of Sioux Falls, S.D., were held on Monday, December 13, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls.
Jim (Calvin James) Van Hulzen was born on April 17, 1952, in Pipestone, Minn., to Herman and Helen (Tinklenberg) Van Hulzen. Jim grew up around the Edgerton, Magnolia, Minn., area and graduated from Southwest Christian High School in 1970 in Edgerton, Minn. Upon graduation Jim pursued an electrical degree at Jackson, Minn. Vo-Tech. Jim met Linda Buss of Luverne at a movie theatre in Luverne and they fell in Love. Jim and Linda were united in marriage on September 2, 1972, at the Methodist Church in Luverne, Minn., and were blessed to be married for 49 years. They lived in Luverne for seven years and have resided in Sioux Falls for over 40 years. Jim loved hunting and enjoyed his Corvette cars.
Jim served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. Jim worked with electrical motors and wiring fire trucks before he started driving trucks. Jim was employed by Dan Dugan Transport until the company closed. Jim also worked at Dakota Corrugated Box Company and worked up until his illness of MS caused him to retire.
Jim suffered from MS for over 30 years and passed away peacefully at home the morning of December 6, 2021. Despite his illness Jim faced each day with a smile and tried to live each day to the fullest that he could with his beloved wife Linda who cared for him faithfully each day.
Jim was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Falls and had served as a deacon and his strong faith in Christ helped him face each day.
Grateful for having shared his life are: his wife Linda, siblings, Marianne Havemann of Grandville, Mich., Jan (Rog) Reitsma, Sioux Falls, Barb (Verlyn) Ruiter, Leota, Minn., and Faith (Bob) Prins of Chandler, Minn., brother-in-law, Roy (Judy) Buss, Luverne, sisters-in-law, Shirley Anderson, Fairmont, Minn., and Kelli (Carolyn) Voog, Centerville, S.D., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Helen Van Hulzen and his parents-in-laws, Roy and Alice Buss of Luverne, and brothers-in-law, Larry Anderson and LaValle Voog.
