Lawrence “Larry” Charles Fenicle, Sr. was born on October 6, 1948, to Merle Harvey and Eva Elizabeth (Henry) Fenicle in Pipestone, Minn., and was baptized on October 17 at St Leo’s Catholic Church.  He was raised on the family farm in Lone Rock Township, SD, until 1953 when the family moved to Burke Township on the edge of Woodstock in Pipestone County, MN.   He attended elementary school in Woodstock and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1966. He was confirmed at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Woodstock on November 7, 1959.  After high school he attended the Reisch American School of Auctioneering, from which he graduated on August 19, 1967. On May 6, 1968, Larry was drafted in to the U.S. Army and served as a M.A.R.S. radio operator in Vietnam until his discharge on December 8, 1969.

On August 28, 1971, he was united in marriage to Rosann Mary Entinger at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona, Minn.  After their marriage the couple moved to an acreage northeast of Woodstock.  In May of 1976, they moved to a farm west of Woodstock on the Rock River.  They farmed there together with Larry’s father and brother, Wayne.  They moved to their current farm on Highway 30 in October of 2019.

On October 30, 2021, Larry was admitted to the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., and on Saturday, November 20, 2021, he died peacefully there at the age of 73 years, one month, and 14 days.

Larry was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Woodstock and was also on the St. Martin’s Cemetery Board.  He was also on the Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Redwood-Cottonwood Rivers Control Area Board.  Larry enjoyed life on the farm, especially anything to do with caring for his cattle and horses.  Through the years, Larry participated in FFA, 4-H, and was an NFO member.  He was an avid reader and loved to dance, especially to George Straight music.  Rosann and Larry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this summer.  That gathering of family and friends brought so much joy to Larry.  His grandchildren held a special place in his heart and he so enjoyed bonfires, making s’mores, shooting clay pigeons, doing chores around the farm, going to Pizza Ranch and attending their special events.

Larry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rosann, of Edgerton, Minn.; five children, Suzanne Fenicle of Grand Rapids, Mich., Laurie (Daniel) Ellefson of Tyler, Minn., Lawrence Jr. (Jamie) Fenicle of Pipestone, Minn., Robert Fenicle of Woodstock, and Jolene (Perry) Bootsma of Edgerton; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Dennis (Jane) Fenicle of Ruthton, Minn., Wayne (Elaine) Fenicle of Pipestone,  and Eileen (David) Pinedo of Ft. Collins, Colo., and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Eva, and his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Margret Entinger; and one granddaughter, Courtney Jo Ellefson.
